In celebration of Vermonts beautiful foliage, Gallery 103 is featuring artists whose work reflects the vibrant colors of autumn, and the upcoming Holiday season.

Raku is a form of Japanese pottery considered the traditional method for creating bowls used in the Japanese Tea ceremony. Western raku typically uses a stoneware clay body and are bisque fored. Pieces are removed from the hot kiln and placed in masses of combustible material such as strw, sawdust, paper, to privide a 'reducing' atmosphere for the glaze and stain the exposed body surface with carbon.
Jeremy Dillon is a young, emerging raku artist from New Mexico. He creates 'spirit jars' with richly colored surfaces embellished with twigs and beads. Dillons magical Pony jars capture the fleeting images of wild horses as they gallop across the western plains. Hold one of his tiny 'dreamcatcher' vessels in the palm of your hand and imagine a unique gift for someone special! and Just Arrived- new work form our popular raku artist John Melkonian features his signature graceful shapes decorated with grasses and dragonflys. Their surfaces reflect the strong deep colors of earth and sky.

New featured work at the gallery includes lovely wooden ornaments made in Vermont by Bob & Deb's Sugarhouse. Their ornaments are a modern version of Intarsia, which originated in 14th century Italy. Each piece is cut, shaped, sanded and finished, then carefully fitted together to form a 3-dimensional design. Sailboats, snowmen, santas, tree frogs and many ohter designs are offered in lovely hues of the natural woods used.
